I am passionate about helping people overcome challenges and lead a more satisfying and content life. I have many years of experience assisting people to find solutions to what life throws up. I offer a free 20-minute introduction to help you decide if you want to work with me and ask any questions you may have.

My approach to counselling is to build trust so you have the confidence and freedom to talk about what is happening for you and how it impacts you. I aim to help you find the solutions you need or want and work on how to achieve those. I work with all clients inclusively. I treat everything I am told as confidential and I am honest, respectful and understanding.

I have been asked to explain how can counselling help, and depending on what is happening for you and your own circumstances and motivations, there is no one size fits all answer. I work with you as an individual, made up of your own experiences, behaviours, thoughts and feelings. Whilst others may have gone through similar events to you, no one has experienced it in the same way.

The starting point is to build a strong relationship by ensuring everything is to benefit you and by being honest. I treat everything as confidential, save for a few exceptions, and I do not disclose anything you talk about to anyone else.

You are not your behaviour. With the right support, it’s possible to understand the underlying reasons why we do what we do, and by knowing what is behind these behaviours we begin to build new ways of responding that are healthier, more empowering, and more aligned with who you really are.

Counselling and Psychotherapy - Support for Common Mental Health Difficulties
Many people seek therapy because something in their life no longer feels manageable. This might show up as anxiety, low mood, stress, anger, shame, or a sense of being stuck, even when things look fine on the outside. For some, it’s tied to patterns around alcohol, drugs, or compulsive behaviours. For others, it’s more about self-worth, perfectionism, procrastination, imposter syndrome, or ongoing relationship and family difficulties.

-
Why do I feel anxious and low even when my life seems fine?
-
Why do I feel so guilty all of the time?
-
Why can’t I stop procrastinating?
-
Can I get help with anger management in therapy?
-
How do I know if I have attachment issues or codependency?
-
Why do I feel like a fraud at work or in relationships?
-
Can anxiety, depression, or trauma cause my bad behaviour?
-
How do I set boundaries without feeling selfish or guilty?
-
Why do relationships trigger my anger or fear of abandonment?
-
Can therapy help if I don’t know exactly what’s wrong?
-
Why do I struggle to say no?
I work with these behaviours and feelings as well as many others. Therapy is where you can explore what’s driving these patterns, behaviours and feelings, understand how they developed, and what they’re trying to help with. This might include work around trust, attachment, codependency, boundaries, or the impact of past experiences, alongside practical ways of coping with everyday pressures.

Sessions are offered face to face, online, or in a hybrid format, and don’t have to follow a rigid weekly structure. We can work short or longer term, at a pace that fits alongside work, relationships, finances, and family life, while still allowing room for meaningful and sustainable change.

Counselling and Psychotherapy via Trojan Wellbeing
First responders carry more than the calls they answer. The constant exposure to trauma, high-pressure decisions, long shifts, and public scrutiny can take a real toll over time. Our mental health services for first responders and emergency services personnel are built around the unique realities of the job. Whether you’re facing burnout, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or just feeling worn down, we provide a space where you can speak openly with someone who understands the culture and demands of your work.
I support paramedics mental health needs after critical incidents, cumulative trauma, and compassion fatigue. We work closely with police and mental health concerns such as operational stress, hypervigilance, and the impact of shift work on family life. We also focus on the mental health of firefighters, including the effects of repeated exposure to crisis scenes and the pressure to always stay strong. Our approach is practical, confidential, and tailored to the challenges you face both on and off duty.

In addition to individual counseling, we connect clients with trusted mental health resources for law enforcement and other emergency services professionals. Early support can make a meaningful difference in performance, relationships, and long-term wellbeing.

Many men feel more comfortable opening up to someone who may have faced similar societal pressures or experiences as them.
Male counsellors may be able to empathically understand male vulnerability, helping clients feel understood and not judged.
Counselling helps men work through the stigma or fear of reaching out and to speak about what is happening.
While men may benefit by talking more about their feelings, therapy is not just about saying how they feel. It is about the need to be understood around deeply personal and intimate concerns. Anything that makes a man feel not good enough. It is about helping them according to their needs and from their perspective.
Men face many of the same mental health challenges as women but often cope in different ways. Men may suppress emotions, ignore problems, hope it goes away or mask their struggles with behaviours such as drink or drugs.
