Psychotherapeutic Formulation & Treatment Planning

A clearer understanding of what is happening and what may help

You don’t always need more answers. Sometimes you need the right questions

Formulation & Treatment Planning

Sometimes the most useful first step is not simply more therapy, but a clearer understanding of what is happening, what may be maintaining the difficulty, and what needs to change.

Psychotherapeutic formulation brings together the different parts of your situation to create a clearer picture of the patterns, influences, needs, strengths and difficulties that may be relevant.

If you want to find out more, book a free initial consultation and I'll help explain how therapy helps.

What This Involves

This can include exploring your current difficulties, important experiences, repeating patterns, relationships, coping strategies, addictive or compulsive behaviours, emotional needs and previous attempts to make changes.

The aim is not to label you or reduce everything to a diagnosis. It is to make sense of the bigger picture and identify what may be most useful to work on.

You may then receive a clear treatment plan setting out priorities, possible therapeutic approaches and practical next steps.

When This May Be Helpful

A formulation can be particularly useful when several difficulties seem to overlap, when you feel stuck despite understanding the problem, when behaviours keep returning, or when you are unsure what type of help would be most appropriate.

It can also be useful where previous therapy has not provided enough clarity, or where a more structured starting point would help.

Other areas I work with are:

Compulsive Sexual Behaviour
, Porn use, sex addiction, Findom, Gambling and addiction to drugs or alcohol ; Control & Connect,
